Christmastime in Saint Nicholas Square
By Abigail Donaghy

It's a week before Christmas in St. Nicholas Square.
There are skaters on the frozen pond.
Boots are filled with snow and slush.
The ground is a large blanket of snow.
The sky looks like it's filled with smoke.
Mutts chase their sledding owners.
Black cats are perched on cold, black rooftops.
Carolors carol by the Gas Station.
Last week: train whistles and Christmas carols.
Next week: the same exact thing, but twice as many people.
A beagle pauses to look at the town tree.
The smell of snow and pine needles fill the foggy gray air.
Families bustle home to put the final decarations up.
There's a week left untill Christmas.
